NO!!!! DO NOT weld it together! The Phantom Grip allows the differential to let the inner and outer wheels spin at different speeds when turning, while locking them together for straight line acceleration
Welding the gears together wont allow this and will cause serious strain on your drivetrain. Your inner and outer wheels when turning will be at the same speed and the inner usually spins slower than the outer wheel. This will cause the outer wheel to "push" the inner wheel and your handling will go right down the drain right along with your differential.
Welding it is all fine and dandy for redneck trailer queen drag only cars that don't need to turn. Spend the extra $$$ and buy the Phantom Grip.

hehehe, I did that recently with my ranger 4X4 that I was selling, it was rainy outside, but when I turned into my driveway (pretty tight turn) the inner wheel was hopping and popping rocks out, and the front susp. was making all kinds of noise. Not Good. The Phantom Grip is only like $300, just save your pennies, cause welding your diff. will cost you WAY more in no time.

i talked to team rip one of the top dsm tranny buidlers out there about this and he said if u just driving down the road and your tire grips the wrong way it will snap the wheel lock to lock and if u try to grab it will most likly break your thumbs because of so much force behind it, lock the diff in our cars are different were fwd and our drive tires turn they aren't staionary so DONT do it unles sits a car that only gos down the strip and he said it is a huge pain to keep the car straight down the track even after launch....
i posted good prices for pg in the other post check them out..
You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
