i have a 99 auto rs eclipse and havent had the money yet to get a full catback exhaust so right now i have a obx muffler welded on.but everytime i punch it it makes a weird fart noise out of the exhaust right when it shifts.and if i have my cai on it makes the fart noise from the exhaust and cai.Just wondering if anyone knows why its doing that.

hahaha

Give it some Malox emoji

sorry, um...my car doesn't really make much sounds from the intake when it shifts.

My exhaust kinda...I dunno what the hell it does. It guess it sounds almost like it's backfiring when it shifts. I guess it's cause we run so damn rich.

Mine does that too, when it shifts from 1st to 2nd. I'm not so sure what's the cause of it. It happens when I was NA, and got worse now that I'm turbo'd.

I think what babyeclipse said above might be the probable cause. When my friend was behind me in his truck, I gunned it, and he said that my car farted followed by a puff of smoke.

Do any of you have a testpipe?
A friend of mine was following me one night and he said it shot a flame everytime the "FART" sound was made when the car shifted. The "FART" sound is a great sound with a full cat-back and a header. I kinda like it now. emoji

I have one and it is loud as hell. IT was ok with the header and cat back but when the test pipe went in it was all over. I like the sound sometimes, but other times it gets annoying. But i refuse to sacrifice performance for sounds.

Man, I had some BAD BACKFIRE problem for about 7 months...but I have finally fixed it. I don't know if its the same kind of fart... but mine was farting hard if I stomp on the gas...I couldn't go up a little hill in 2nd because it was backfireing so bad. Pull out of parking lot etc you know how it goes... some things you should check for or what i have done.. 1.)Check timing 2.) Change plug wires 3.) Check the spark plug gaps( I think mine was caused by this... Chilton's book says 0.03something to 0.043 or soemthing like that, then at autozone they tell you 0.05... I think different mods and different spark plugs requires us to change the gaps...try it!) and 4.) try everything else you know LOL
i hope this can help your problem... hell i was pissed for 7months but now BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

the possible cause of this is because the inigtion is shuting off at 6400 rpm, its like a rev limiter, i read that somewhere it sounds possible
