#38665, "CEL code who has had P0455? more"

last night before i went out i got a p0455-evap emission control system leak detected (gross leak) on the ob2 labtop program, but when i looked in the service manuel i got a large leak instead of gross leak?.. i just erased the cel for now and i will see if it comes back. what are common things to check or test? does it happen often?... this is my 1st real cel besides system too lean which happens once a month at idle so im a bit on the ohh darn it side...
thanks

I have the same problem. It is causing my car to idle from 900 to 1000rpm. I have been trying to trouble shoot the system for a while. The evap system takes the vapores from the gas tank and vents them into the intake. It is to help with emisions and fuel economy, I think. The evap system for the 96 year models was a little less complicated. I have a 98 and there are a few more solenoids and valves as compared to the 96. I have been looking for into on the system in the Tech Info PDF, but they only show the older 96 system. If anyone can find some more into on the newer evap system, it would help so much. I have done one mad to the evap system already. It seamed to fix my idle problems a little, but now they are back. Below is a link to the topic I started on this same subject. You were involved in the topic Michael. We may want to put this thread somewhere to be saved. I can see this problem becoming more common as more people with the newer system turbo charge their cars.

I think the only way to figure this out is to jack the car up and drop the gas tank. I just can't get to all of the lines at the top of the gas tank.
