#38553, "Bore limit on the 420a"

Ok, I've heard that the bore limit on our engines is .060 over. Why then are the 2.4L 420A guys boring .140 over(making 2.6L)? It's the same block just taller right? Why is our bore limit .060? Do we hit water jacket at .080 or .100? Shouldn't the water jackets be the same on both blocks? Does it have something to do with the 2.0L head as opposed to the 2.4L head? I just can't figure this huge difference out, so please someone help me. 140 over on our little 2.0L would make just about a 2.2L - not bad....but can it be done?

they call it the bore limit because most people dont carry pistons for our block bigger then that most wont rebuild that many times if put together correctly ona normal driven motor blackdog over bores the 2.0 and 2.4 motors 140 over , at 160 things get pretty hairy but your pretty good at only 140 or even 120 to be a lil safe, our cylinders are not really weak, our cooling isn't a big problem either so i wouldn't worry send a mail or phone call to black dog and talk to him about he is the master of it..

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.

I've done my 2.0 to 3.5" bore and no problems at all...
