ive ate up a powersteering belt once, the whole tension piece fell off 2nd time, and then the 3rd time i ate the belt up again, but this when everything started goin wrong. whenever i would cut my wheel, it would make this loud ass screaming noise. had a friend cut the wheel, watched the p/s, and it would like grip. wasnt really worried about it, jus only happened when i cut my wheel all the way. street raced acouple weeks back, and this time i popped the whole p/s belt off. didnt eat it up, just popped right off. i think it happened right when i popped my shifter during 3rd (wasnt watching my rpms), cuz when we finally let off, i went to hit a turn and noticed my p/s was gone. on the way home, noticed my battery light kicked on, jus thought my system was killing it. got home, put my belt on, and noticed a little slack, not too much. started her up, started making that noise as soon i turned her on, cut the wheel, giving gas, just sitting there. went around the block, still that damn noise while i was driving. took a look around, noticed my altinator belt was gone. dont know how long its been gone. got a new alt. and p/s belt, put em both on, and it still made that noise. but then i noticed my tension screw was stripped somewhere, screw wont even go no where, loosening, or tightening. got pissed off, said fuck it, took of p/s belt and decided to wait until i got a new tension pully n what not. and now my car still makes the screaming noise when i give her gas in neutral, and every so often out of the blue. can someone with experience, not just a guess, someone that has a pretty damn good idea whats wrong with it respond. thanx, -kyle wall
