I think 95-96 is when head gasket was recalled. My mom had a 96 neon and the head gasket sucked bad. It was a 420a neon.

There was NEVER an official recall on any 420a engine(eclipse or neon).

You guys can forget any mfr ever doing a recall on a HG or anything else internally related. Can you imagine the costs associated with such a recall? No way.

Well I don't think it is so much costs, as it is safety of the drivers. A lot of recalls aren't by choice of the car manufacturer, they are pretty much forced to do them because of safety reasons. The HG blowing poses no danger to the driver or the occupants. Therefore they will never do anything about it.

There is no "recall" there is a TSB. The way it works is you need to call chrysler or mitsu if your under warrenty. If you are under warrenty (or there's only a certin amount of miles) you may be able to talk them into doing it for free. So I would call them and see what they can do for you just be really really nice until they cop a tude. If you need to talk to a supervisor. How many miles are on your car?

Alot. 106,000. I knew it wouldn't be covered under any sort of warranty, but if there was a recall issued, they would have to do it regardless of the mileage.

nope and I'm sorry to say it like this but you're screwed. Just remember when you change it grind down the top righthand corner bolt 3mm. That will make it seal properly.
