Got a problem I been driving lately and as soon as my car gets warmed up my idle starts to drop all the way down to 0, and wont come back unless I give it some gas. Sometimes the car evens shuts downin mid RPM. I put the vaccum gauge on and the needle was flikering beetween 0 and 5 saying vaccum or timeing. I eliminated the EGR system. but can't find the (vsc or vcs)persure line, But I have all the stems caped off. Not sure about the plate over the EGR inlet behind the throtle body.I also have new Crower cams that I have been gearing in. Mitsubishi say that its my Idle Seed servo and it can sometime cause my ecu to bad, and that I might need a new servo and ecu. need some input.

Is your check engine light on? What do you mean by "sometimes it dies down mid RPM"? Does that mean it dies even if you have your foot on the gas pedal? Or does it mean that it dies when you let go of the gas pedal from mid RPM?

If the car is dying with your foot off the gas - yeah it could be the IAC(Idle Air Controller) motor. If you have a buddy with an eclipse, you should try swapping in a known good IAC before buying one. They usually trigger a CEL when they crap out.

If it's dying when you've got your foot on the gas pedal then its probably not the IAC.

It hit zero when I take my foot off, but occasionaly die out with foot on the pedle. Its more like a total electrical shut down. Then I tap on the ecu and here somthing on the throttke body click on. the the Idle problems start. Rcently it just been a idle problem.(2days)

Check for vaccum leaks, the EGR system uses vaccum sources off of the back of the intake manifold. also, check your IAC also, that could cause idle problems. it also could be something as simple as a loose fuse or ground. do you get a CEL?

What year is your car? if it's 95-97, you can do the "keydance" to check the ECU's diagnostic trouble codes. If you're 98-99, you can use an OBD2 scanner/datalogger or go to Autozone t have your codes checked. Find out what codes your ECU is throwing, and it will better help us to diagnose your problem.

I just put a new block off plate on the back of the intake (EGR). I was talking to some of my mechanic buddies and they said it could be because I haven't degreed my cams in, and its runing a little retarded. but that dosen't exsplain my car shuting down.I'll check that map sensor. does any one know how much a IAC cost. hopefully I don't beed a new computer. If I do where can I get a good one and how much should I ecpect.

Let the ECU get used to the cams.

IAC could be bad etc. But give it a little time and let the ECU adjust. My ECU was confused when I first installed them, I played around with a lot of setting on my S-AFC when I installed my cams. I'm back to 0 correction at idle. But I also am pretty sure my head gasket is blown, so needs a little work there too.

Don't agressive cams kill your Idle vacuum pressure?
From what I know of most cars with GOOD cams, they have a problem with Idle. isn't that just the status quo?

mine kindof does the same thing cept when i let the car sit for too long, it'll go to die and then when i get the rpms up, it runs really bad almost like i just lost a compression in a cylinder. was thinking it might be a fuel injector, or my coil. my check engine light kept coming on but when i turned my car off and then started it back up, the light was off. i think my problem is the same as his but not sure.
