#37807, "Is anyone datalogging with win 98 &obd-2.com software????"
I can't make this damn thing work and I have 2 laptops sitting here to use. I don't know for sure yet if either of the serial ports are really working properly. But I was hoping someone would have experience with 98 and mabye it's a glitch or something.

You have got the worst luck with laptops. I may put '98 on my "new" laptop; then I can speak from more experience. My new laptop is a screaming 120 mhz (thats a whole 60% faster). I'll let you know how things go when I get it. I have 2 versions of '98 and 1 version of '95 if you want to try any of them out.

You da man Corbin.... I got another laptop and this one won't read it either. &(*&&(*&(*^%&%^%*&^#@&$)@#^%$)&^%$*&%^$^#$%)*^$#&^*&$%^&*^#%*&^#$%*^$*&%^*#^%^#$... This really sucks why can't one thing go fuckin right? I'm getting a loopback tester for it to really test the serial port. If this doesn't work I'll have to get a pcmcia card or something to use. I also downloaded last years version of the obd2 so that may help too. it's version m where as I have version y & z right now. I may see you this weekend, I'll be up there so if I can get away..... then I'll come on by. Dave sent me a pm too.

Your serial settings should be: COM1, 3f8, IRQ4, 9600bps (or try 19200bps), N/8/1, *NO* flow control.
This should be set both in the PC bios (before you load windows), in windows (com port driver, etc), and in your obd2 software. If you don't get each one of these settings right, it won't work. Yes, its a total bitch but there's no way around it.
Also make sure the red plug is in your car firmly... sometimes i have to seat it a couple times.
