As some of you may know or may have noticed I am undertaking, with the help of some good guys, the AT->MT swap. Been reading up a bit and from helpful information from guys on the board have seen that supposedly a 95-99 Neon Tranny can be used in a 97 NT. Only thing that has to be changed is the bell housing. Just wondering a few things:
-Can the bell housing from a 2GNT be easily found and just switched? -Will the tranny be a direct bolt in after the bellhousing has been switched. -Just how reliable are these trannies? because I can currently find one for far cheaper than a dsm one.

Yep, all you do is switch bellhousings and it's a direct bolt on. You might have to cut off some type of counterweight, where the shifter links, to make it fit. But yeah, me and a friend of mine switched trannies from a Neon to his 2GNT.
Oh yeah, the Neon tranny has a different ratio in one of the gears. I can't remember which one, so it'll affect performance a bit.

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
