I wanted to get a good convo about turning the 2Gnt in to AWD. I remember *some* talk about it before. How would it be possible, what tranny would you use, etc..

possibly the AWD caravan tranny.. but it may only come for the V6.. if it comes for the I4, ya MAY have something to work with. and you'd need the entire rear underbody of a GSX (suspension, drivetrain, gas tank, etc..) then some custom work on a driveshaft to go from the caravan tranny to the gsx rear end. but, in any case, most of it depends on making a tranny fit/work. since you guys already know the AWD running gear in the rear should bolt right up.

P.S. us zx2 guys are starting to work out turning a zx2 into a AWD vehicle (which would be more difficult since there is no AWD zx2 model) by using a ford escape awd tranny (it's the same tranny as ours! in mtx form) and then possibly the rear AWD gear from an older AWD protege I think (I forget exactly which car they wanted to get the rear stuff from).

anyway, a big thing to consider is, is it work the money, cause that'd be pretty dang expensive, while buying a awd vehicle isn't that much more expensive. but if you want to stick with the 420a motor.. i guess that's just what you'd have to do. and it'd be funny as hell to see the looks on the 4g63 guys when ya dust their gsx off the line emoji

A friend of mine with a turbo Avenger told me about this place in California, they do all the good stuff on the west coast, that he is considering using for the AWD conv. Perhaps someone would like to call them and get the details. Here is the website. Later.

RRE's was a lot different, it was spyder, they have the same motor as the gsx so it's not as difficult as ours.

Its funny how I stated this like a few months back..

And everyone laughed.. and now someone else stated it, and its all serious..

Hmm.. emoji

Anyways, I looked into it for a while..

Everyone said I was dumb, and that this would never work, and that this would cost a bunch of money...

I'm not a person that holds grudges, soo...

Try looking for the 41AE AWD tranny. I believe that the front would be a direct bolt on..

Look into the 1990 Jeep 3.0L, and the 19890 3.0L vans.

Hope that helped..

i was curious in a rear wheel drive conversion, of course you would have to set the motor side ways but hmmmmmm.....wondor what the labor bill would be.

Vinnie from ASOG was trying to do this conversion a while back. His nickname is kiku on this board. You might want to talk to him about it. This thread may be helpful.
