#37110, "AWD vs FWD"

I was thinking about selling my RS and maybe get an GSX or something because of its AWD. I never drove an AWD so i really don't know. Does it make a big difference? Becuase i want to go TURBO and stuff, but i didn't know if its worth saving for to get an AWD. Either way i'm going turbo and want to make my car fly~ Just need some info about FWD turbo vs AWD turbo. HIT ME BACK!!!!

If both have same mods an AWD will win from a stop and a FWD will beat an AWD if you start from a roll (ie freeway battle). In my opinion AWD is the way to go if you want to go fast and factory turbo cars are so easy to mod.

Plus, the overall feel and handling of an AWD car is much improved. Instead of dreading inclement weather in your FWD boosted car, you shall savor it in your AWD turbo.

The differences go way beyond pure 1/4 mile #'s. It makes driving a much more enjoyable experience!

I think we put way too much weight on pure power in any case with DSM's. Sport cars should not only be great looking, but have nice handling and be agile and fun to drive.

Jason's right. (and he stole my tag line!!) On one hand I'm bummed winter is here cause I have to put away the GS. But, I can't wait til it starts snowing so I can have some fun in the AWD. If you going to get a 1g, get an AWD. You'll regret it later if you don't.

if it has enough mods, an awd car will own everything, from a roll or from the stand still. Some awd cars str8 up haul some.

Wow, AWD sounds fun. But do the GSX's encounter any additional problems that the GST doesnt have?

there was a transfer case issue but that has a recall out so that's easily fixed.

if your shoppin for 2g's than crank walk is an issue if you go turbo but i wouldn't worry about it if i had the cash to get a GS*. other than that insurance.

It sounds like both are in favor. I know AWD should have better control, but GSX's do cost hell of a lot more than RS or GS. Or atleast it does in TN. Lets say that both cars had the same exact mods (stage II, etc.), but the only difference was AWD and FWD. Would there be a big difference? Will there be enough difference, that its actually worth getting a GSX? I do want to save money, but i do want the FASTER car!

gsx's are stock turbo charged, so you can't exactly compare them in stages to a RS/GS, you can easly compare them to a GS-T since the only difference is the AWD. and they both pull the same stock 1/4 mile time (according to magazines).

Mod for mod, the AWD will bury an equally modded FWD car. There's just too much to be made up for on the launch. That's where drag racers make their money.

If you've ever raced an AWD car off the line, you'll know what I'm talking about. It's MORE than unfair. Off a roll, or on the highway with the taller FWD gearing, the difference is made up for with the FWD car having less drivetrain drag and less weight.

Because of CW though, and I used to be less skeptical of how widespread it really is, I would NEVER recommend anyone buy a 2g 4g63. There's just oo much risk involved. I can't fathom that 6-bolt swaps are as easy and cost effective as someone might have you believe.
