hehe, putting on my p/s belt by myself for the first time, I can get everything but the belt around the back pulley, I can get it around the top and very bottom pulley no problem, but how do I get it around the one that's behind em? thanks

is your tensioner pully loosend all the way? maby the belt is too small? it should slide over with plenty of room to spare.

WTF happened? I put it on for you last time, did you throw it? All you have to do is loosen the bolts holding the power steering pump. Then push it back as far as you can. Take off the belt. Put the new one on. Pry the power steering pump back to tighten the belt. Tighten the bolts. You are done. I say Jody at ARD do this in 2 minutes, no lie. Good luck.

be carefull doing it the way described above, sometimes youll get into a situation where the pully holes in the p/s pump dont line up correctly with the bolts on the p/s bracket (you have to use a ratchet held to the left of the p/s pump and poking through the pully to get to the bolts). its much easier just using the tensioner. LOL..ive dont this WAAAAAY too many times.


edit: forgot to add, if you arent using the a/c anymore (i.e., the belt runs only between the p/s pump and the crankshaft pully), disregard everything i just said.

what kind of belt do you need just to run the PS and the crank?? I dont want to run my AC during the winter to free up some HP

Mine falls off all the time. Well, whenever I rev to high. Who knows why. The belt doesnt tear at all, just falls off and hangs there. Anyways, heres how Ive learned to do it-

Loosen the tensioner ALL the way. Put the belt around the BOTTOM two pulleys first, then through the tensioner then pull it over the top one. Have to do this probably every week, oh well. Takes 5 minutes tho.

and for the length of the p/s to crankshaft belt, i THINK its 40", but i could be wrong. i spent about 30 minutes at autozone trying to find the right length...they are cool about you trying it out and stuff. if its not 40" its definatly 38". start w/ 40" and work down

thanks guys, only took 12 minutes, it really helped trying to get the bottom 2 on then the top, preciate it! gotta love genuine mitsubishi belt raping pulleys tho
