just wondering if it's possible to make a custom tranny. maybe one thats similar to the supra's 6 speed. they have great gearing, top end, etc. anyone know if it's possible, about how much it would cost, where i would go, etc?m appreciate it.

Anythings possible with the right amount of money. emoji

You may want to talk to level10. I see thier name come up often when talking about high performance transmissions. I've never dealt with them but it sounds like they have their shit together. http://www.levelten.com/

Level 10 makes Push button shifter for auto's.....I'm sure they've got something to suite your needs. This is a pic of one in a 1st gen DSM.

be careful with level ten, some stuff the do is great and some is totally unacceptable

Robert on asog supposedly got a fully built tranny and the parts they actually put in were stock replacement parts and of course he fried that sucker out real quick, he had specifically asked for performance parts and they gave him stock parts

What exactly are you looking for? Stronger internals? Until you start breaking it regularly I would not worry too much about that. AS for gearing, our trannies are geared decently stock for NA. It will run up to 160mph if you can make the power. If you want longer gears, use a sohc neon tranny with its 3.54 final drive (what I have). Another option would be the quaife fwd 6-speed that only costs a paltry $15k.

i'd want a 6spd manual. or something where the gearing is better. with our gears even with high hp it would be hard to compete with top peformance cars. i'm not saying now but maybe if i do what i'm thinking about i'd like to have a better tans.

I have never heard of a 6 speed conversion in the stock bellhousing of a 4G63 FWD transmission, or even an AWD transmission. I would love to hear some details on how this was done...

As for what transmission to use, I have been tossing around the idea of going RWD using a Chrysler transmission, but if I am gonna go through all of that trouble, I might as well use a Supra transmission... hehe... emoji

Quit puttin' ideas in my head, guys!

i'm still pondering if i should go the extreme with my car when i get it if the transmission wouldn't be good enough to beat top end cars. i dont' know....still thinking i guess.

Keep in mind that the reason that Supras have insane top end is not only because of gearing, it is also because the engine has a lot of low end torque and a gobs of power at the high RPMs also. A wide power band allows for wider spacing of the gears, and when you have 6 of them, you cover from a very low speed to a very high speed.
I don't think that most cars would benefit from Supra gear ratios...
