#36788, "OBX? best Non turbo upgrades?"

hello all

well im pretty undecided as to which way i should go but id figure id get opinions.. basically ive been toying with the idea of HP increase and im currently undecided as to go the Turbo route or the get all the upgrades i can without a turbo....

i know turbos are high maitenance but i really want one so bad...the only thing preventing me from getting one is my GF screaming down my throat that i should be saving for our wedding and not spending 4 G's on a turbo lol hehehe

so if i went the non-turbo route....

first question, is OBX good or cheap? ive seen that name plastered all over Ebay..

can someone tell me the best recommended companies for the following parts:

CAI: AEM?
Fuel Pressure Regulator: ?
MSD: ? is msd the company? someone just recommended getting MSD whatever that is
Headers: ??
High Flow Cat COnverter: ?
Exhaust: Greddy?
Fast IGnition
short shift clutch

does anyone know if i left any other non-turbo items that can help booost my HP?

thanks

ohh yeah, i forgot one.... something about a chip in my computer ? they said they would take the comp out, send it somewhere and have a chip installed that would recalculate a bunch of things.... does that increase HP that much?

with the mods you listed there.. you won't need a FPR (fuel pressure regulator) or the MSD ignition.
If ya want to get some good power out of it.. think about getting nice cams and cam gears, plus some dyno time.

would you know roughly how much HP increase im looking at with all this? at least 30?

sorry, i forgot about the Cam Sprocket...i was looking at hte OBX one.. http://www.obxracingsports.com/performance.cfm?catID=3&subcatID=18

Another brand ive seen on Ebay is the Bomz Cat Conv.... anyone heard of Bomz? or can you recommend a good cat conv brand?

i thought the Dyno was to only measure HP, & torque....do they tweak your engine for better performance too?

you hook up to the dyno and record your hp/torque maps at different cam settings(advancing or retarding the intake and exhaust) to see which one gives you the best increases.

OBX is not bad IMO. I have a muffler with a custom exhaust which sounded really good until I gutted mr. meow meow and gave noticable increase in top end pull. Peak HP is not the important part, yet people are always obsessed with it. Id rather have a 10 HP shift upward in the entire band that 20HP Peak added. All of the parts tuned correctly will def. shift your power band up well, making the car much more enjoyable to drive.
