#36259, "Who wants to give me their AFC mounting/wiring ideas!??!"

Anyone have any crazy, interesting ideas for moutning an AFC. I want to mount mine to the top of my A-pillar gauge, but regardless of where I mount it, there simply isn't enough wire. Has anyone else done a lot of wire extending? If so, is it safe to extend the wire, and how much did you extend it??
I'm just happy I got it.

If you still have the slot below the stock radio, that's always a good location. And, if you really want to get creative and don't really care about the center vents, you could cut plastic or sheet metal to mount the AFC there. Just some ideas.

I'll have to agree. I need some new ideas for mounting my AFC. Currently, my AFC is mounted in front of my center vents like the picture below. **for the record, that is NOT my car, just an example I found.

I thought about mounting it IN the area where the center vents are like Ryan_RS did, but I would really like to keep my center vents. I can barely use them right now because the AFC blocks most of the air.

I considered trying to mount it below my stereo, but I'm not sure if it would fit. Has anyone done this? My other thought is to mount the bracket on my dash just above my center vents. Has anyone tried that? Does it look tacky from the front of the car seeing the back of the AFC sticking up above the dash?? Any other suggestions??

for a wile i had mine right in front of me on roof line. It seemed to work quite well. But I could not monitor it while I was driveing down the dragstrip. So I moved it to the dash.. I will probly move it back just cause it looks a bit tacky.
When I extended my wires, I went out and spent like 20 on all the different colors of wire. Then extended them.

Go to a mitsu dealer and buy the "din plate" for a 3G. It fits right below the radio where that slot/holder is. You can cut it for gauges, AFC, or whatever. A friend of mine put 2 autometers in it. Tight fit but looks great! And it looks stock! (Cause it IS!!!!).

hmm, all of these are interesting, i think i may do the above-the-head roof? mount idea, where it hangs down off the headliner. Haha, another premise that i have: I CAN'T obstruct the center air vents, my girlfriend has a hard enough time accepting the AFC as it is, and i'm pussy-whipped emoji. As for wiring, I think i'm going to go buy some cat6 ethernet cable, since it's insulated, less of a chance of something going wrong. And I can steal their colors emoji. I'm not on my cable modem computer, so i can't look at your pictures right now, but thanks a lot i appreciate all the input and all future input as well.

I think my mounting place is cool!
looky looky

I put it there because I really don't look at it while driving. once it is set and working out good. you don't really need to mess with it. And it looks cool and stealth.

I used to have mine on a little aluminum bracket bolted in where the drivers sun visor clip was. It was very easy to read and didn't obstruct my vision (you don't need the visor anyway, right?). Didn't have to extend the wiring either. I ran the wires behind the ceiling padding. I trashed the pics when I sold the S-AFC.

I was thinking about buying those team prototype door pannels. I want to cut out where the 2 guage holes are on the driver pannel and put my afc there. I think that would look schweet.

This is probly what your looking to do...Notice that my visor is still there! If you flip your AFC mounting bracket backwards, you can mount it like this with the metal lip under the roofliner holding one side and the double sided stickey holding the other.
Cool huh..

Tim- that is a badass thing, where'd ya get that?

RxR- that's what i think i'm going to do, eitehr that or on top of my A-pillar, the bracket will fit htere too. Haha, i'm kind of a showoff, so the stealth idea is ok, but i'd rahter show it off, 'cause....i dont know, i'm like that. Let me look through stuff some more and i'll post more opinions.

I think I'm gonna buy a plastic DIN panel and bust out the dremel for a custom install below my stereo. I'll see if I can flush mount my AFC and my turbo timer in there.

On a sidenote, I LOVE the interior of your car Brynden!! That plexiglass work for the stereo is SWEET!! I like the seats too, but where are the 4 point harnesses?? emoji

Yeah, i second your opinion on his interior.

I do have the empty space below my cd player, it used to be the factory CD player, but now its laying in my room. The Eclipse (brand) cd players have a mess of wires, so i took it out to have more room.
