you will want to search this one out.
there are some really interesting threads on the subject (and even more opinions)

Really I think it depends on the car. It seems that all of our cars require unique settings for each car.

Hmmm. I can't remember the exact settings, but Import Tuner dynoed them on a 2gnt. I believe it was +2 intake and -2 exhaust for the settings. Try a search on dsmtalk.com because they have great threads there as well.

I run +2/-2 at the track, but for normal street driving i find it alot better to run +2/+2.

try my settings:

+4 degrees advance on the intake cam, exhaust cam at zero (0)

and see how you like it emoji

Let me put it this way, best time without cam gears at all was 15.579, with the cam gears, but not tuned to those settings, 15.554, with the cam gears tuned, well see below emoji

At worst, the idle might stumble a tiny bit when you first adjust them to those settings, but give it a little while and the car's computer should adjust and it should idle fine afterwards. (mine does)

The magazine used +7 intake/ 0 exhaust when they dynoed the cam gears (someone on the board told me this, I forgot who it was but he called them and asked them for details) The magazine people also said every time they touched the exhaust cam they lost power.

Our exhaust cam has the cam angle sensor on it, the intake cam does not, that might have something to do with why the magazine lost power when they adjusted the exhaust cam (this is my guess and the guess of another VERY experienced racer/mechanic I know)
