#35557, "My car just started burning oil!!!"

As I pulled into the driveway today, I noticed that my car was putting a continous stream of light blue smoke out the exhaust pipe. I changed my oil about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago, and I am already a quart low.
I went back out later, and it wasn't doing it. Then later on tonight, I started my car to let it run, and I went back to it, and it was doing it again.
I pulled the plug wires, and on the #1 and #3 cylinders, the bottom of the wire had a good little bit of oil on them.
I am seriously thinking about pulling the engine, and rebuilding it, but if the problem isn't to bad, then I might wait a little longer on the rebuild.
BTW, it is a 95 RS with 151,000 or so miles, and the only mod so far is cold air.
I just bought it like 3 weeks ago, and this isn't cool at all.

Another thing that I forgot to add, it is starting to idle a little funny too. It will idle normal at 900 rpms, then it starts hesitating or missing, but when I rev it up it is fine.

Oil on the sparkplug wires only means you need to change your valvecover gasket. No biggie.. sounds like your problem lies elsewhere - do a compression test first, and a leakdown after that if you have any doubts.

LOL, right before my car blew up i had a major headgasket leak, this happened at 109k. The headgaskets for the 95-98 cars suck, if i remember right, at least from the factory. They made a revised one. My ehad gasket leaked oil out of the rear corner of the #4 cylinder, back on the back fo the block and down the exhaust pipe. When I put on my exhaust back in January, before I did my engine build, I was heating the bolts and caught the catalytic converter on fire emoji. You could literally take a knife and scrape half an inch of oil off of the entire underside of my car. Needless to say, after it was all said and done i drove my car up onto the frame rack and took a pressurized hose to it. Took another hour to clean up the mess emoji.

My car isn't doing it this morning.

Here is another thing, a while back I sprayed water into my muffler b/c a lot of people said that it would make it a little louder, and then after that, at times, it will make white smoke for a little while. It did a little bit this morning when I went out.

I guess as for it missing, where oil is on the wire caps inside and oil is on the plugs that would make it miss. Could that oil leak down inside the engine past the plugs???

if it's cold out, and the engine hasn't fully warmed up, a little white smoke is normal(it's condensation). if there's continuous white smoke while driving (car fully warm), then you probably have a bad HG. from your oil problems mentioned, this seems like the case. check your oil to see if there are bubbles on the dip stick, or if (while the car is running) any white smoke is puffing out of the dipstick sleeve. this would mean there's water in the oil. oh and spraying water in your muffler(assuming you didn't stick a hose up it and put some insane amount in there) would give you white smoke, but only until the moisture in there evaporates.

BTW spraying water in the muffler will not make it louder. your friend must own a honda emoji. only they could come up w/ something that retarded.

Ive got an apexi N1 catback which is tilted upwards...Sometimes water does get into the muffler after a rainstorm or something which then boils off when the engine runs. This could be your problem with that. Are your plugs covered with oil as if they were swimming in oil? If so, then yeah its your valve cover gasket. Check to see if your coolant is running low also because this could indicate a head gasket leak. Head gaskets usually get worse and worse and do not suddenly start leaking oil by the quart. It is possible though that you just didnt notice oil loss before.

Well,

It started doing it again about a day ago, and I checked the oil. It was a quart low, and the bad thing is, I just filled it with oil the Friday before, and this was the Saturday of the next week.

I guess that I am going to need to change the head gasket. How hard is it to do that?? Is there any instructions that I could get that could tell me how to do that, or should I take it to the dealer??
