#3552, "Thoughts on IAC"

In the last 4-6 months my 95 GS Eclipse A/T, has developed the annoying habbit of occasionally stalling when at idle. It occurs only when the weather and/or car is warm. Had the dealer here in town scan for codes and they found nothing however, they said that the IAC was a few ohms higher on the standard resistance.

I have never had any experience with the IAC, in fact I would be hard pushed to find it!!! I would really appreciate any and all feedback that any of you have had with this or an alternative diagnosis.

Thanks

Rob G/B

Its the idle air control motor. It has a motor actuated valve that controls how much air bypasses the throttle body. Its used to regulate idle speed. If you are having stalling problems with no codes, you might want to pull off your throttle body. Pull off the TPS and IAC. Clean the TB with TB cleaner and a stiff brush. You can manually clean the IAC valve too. Don't get any cleaner on the actual IAC motor or TPS (they aren't cheap). Buy a TB to manifold gasket to put everything back together (the old one may break). The cleaning should help idle quality. That may not be your problem, but it can only help.

Great feedback.
I will pull off the parts and clean as you explained.
