If I were to get some slicks for my car what kind and size should I get? My car is a 1997 Talon ESI with stock 16" rims, Should I get some cheep 14" rims and Slicks or stay with 16's or may be 15's? These would be for track only.

It's hard to find slicks for 16's. It's best to find 15 or 14 inch rims, and buy 7-8.0" slicks. You could buy M/T or Hoosiers slicks for the track only, or the Bf Goodrich D.O.T. approved drag slicks.

You can get drag radials in a variety of wheel sizes, but true slicks are usually 13"-15" only. Personally, I just picked up some BFG dr's. 225/45-14 mounted on 6x14" wheels. I'll post after our track event on saturday how they do in battle.

The smallest rim you can fit over your brake rotors..

Just by trial error.. you should be able to fit a 13"rim over the stock brakes. If you've upgraded to the TSI AWD brakes, 15" is the smallest you can go..

Steel rims are pretty light for their size, more importantly they are cheap.. also.. sometimes elcheapo rims like eagle alloy's have some pretty lightweight small rims.. yea they are ugly.. but they are for the track Looks mean nothing if you can't back em up.

I bought Nitto NT555R's for my 14's, and they...well...I pulled the time below with them. Even properly heated, they still spin through 60mph. At least with my car. I ran my car naturally aspirated with them, a few hours later, just to see what it could do, and it hooked right up. I still ran a 17.3


Nittos do not provide enough traction IMO, i'd go with actual drag slicks, however i dont know how any other brands will do.
