#35464, "Where can I get the best price on Crower rods?"
*repost from dsmtalk... ppl there = not helpful*
Not looking good for my RS right now... Leaked a buttload of oil, got to the point where a loud clanging was audible... Turns out I've got a jacked up crankshaft, "off by 14 1000's", mechanic said. 3 of 4 rods are borked royally..Bearings completely like... gone... Hopefully my pistons are okay.
its TBD whether or not a complete swap is in order... he has yet to take off the head+poke around... Mitsu quotes 3k for a new 420a and i'd rather not go junkyardin' for an engine...
I found a place for the crankshaft, $110+$25 for shipping. So far the best price for the rods is Crower, $677. I remember them being on sale for like... 6 or less just a few months ago... so... does anyone sell em for less?

Can I ask why you want to go with Crower? Unless you plan on producing monsterous amounts of horsepower, I'd say go with Eagle. I have eagle rods and so does a lot of other people on this board and they are made to hold some serious power plus you can get them for $350-$400. Just my .02

hmmmmm eagle eh...
well ... right now conservative estimates place it at 250-275hp.
Turbonetics T04R Turbo, JE Pistons, Supra fuel pump, 400cc injectors, 9 pounds of boost @ high (currently)
I'll be moving to 500/550cc (forgot what they are, think 550), not sure what boost I'll run. But as long as I'm upgrading, wouldn't it be wise to get the strongest I can?

I have come to understand lately that eagle rods can take what your going to dishout. Gary told me yesterday that with the proper rod bolts they will support 800HP!!! I don't think we'll be able to test that one. But he also said that eagle conservitvely rates their rods at 500HP.

sweeeeet
that saves me $300
Guess that'll go towards new injectors + tuning my afc/boost controller...
(yes my sig says I've got 500cc, but I emailed hahn racecraft, they say these are just 390s!! so either I have them in the car now, or original owner is lying like a bitch)

One thing to be careful of is rod bolts!!!! The rod is able to handle that abuse but make sure when you get ARP rod bolts for them that you spesify your horse power goals. The bolts have to take the abuse as well.

emailed them for both the rods + now these bolts, guess I can just wait for their reply.
Have a good place to get those Energy Suspension engine mounts? heard good things about those; as long as my engine is on a lift I figure i should put them in. Saw that theyre ~30, I can only find em for 90!!
