#3539, "oil question"

i was just wondering if this is normal. about every 2-3K miles i need about a quart of oil, i was just wondering if this was normal or if i was burning oil. i have a manual tranny, and keep it in the upper revving ususally. there is no oil under thecar, ever. thanks

MITSU told me that using up to 1 qt in 1000 miles is still okay. I have to add oil every 5 to 7 days because I seem to be burning it because there is no more leak now(it was leaking out of the cam pos. sensor and I am on my second engine due to the engine running low on oil and spinning a bearing on the crank. I would keep an eye on the oil level once a week. Mitsu also told me that running the engine 2 qts low would not hurt it but I don't trust that and only let it go about .5 to 1.25 qts low.

Wow, I thought I was the only one. Sonic does the same thing. I put in a quart every other month. I *do* like to drive it hard, so maybe thats the reason. No leaks though. Maybe its a common thing to all high revving 4 bangers?????

My car seems to burn up oil quickly also. I check it once a month- probably not often enough. My problem is that when I pull out the oil dipstick to check- the oil seems to be everywhere on the stick. I can't check if it's full or low. My car is on a level surface and the engine is turned off. Maybe I just need a new dipstick.

When my rod bearings were spun I also found that my pistons oil seal rings were shot because of an imporoper breakin from the previous owner. I found myself putting in 2.5Q after a month 1 time, 1Q is fine but I would check once a week, and keep it topped off
