After reading another post about how to check engine codes, I decided to see if my car was running anything.

I turned the swtich on-off-on-off-on, my seatbelt light flashed a few times, then my engine light blinked 5, then paused, then blinked 5 again. So, I take it that it is a code 55.

What is that?? Can anyone tell me what it is, and how hard it would be to fix??

code 55 means that there are no codes. it will also flash after any other codes to let you know thats the end.
