#35204, "after installing intake, engine light comes on, funny smell"
after i was finally able to install my intake, for the first few seconds, about 10 or so, my car gave a bad smell. then after driving for a few minutes i noticed my engine light came on. i went back home and checked to make sure the clamps holding the intake were on tight, and everything was.
But i don't know what to do? I need some ideas of what i could of done to make that engine light turn on and I hope and doubt that the bad smell could of been the reason.

do the key dance (from the acc. to "on" positions without actually starting the car turn the key on-off-on-off-on) and watch the check engine light. it will blink a few times, then pause, then blink a few more times, giving you a two digit number. tell us what that is and we can help you out. also, you can go to autozone and they will scan your computer for free and tell you what is wrong.

i was able to get the check engine light to blink on and off, but i'm not sure on how to figure out when the first number starts and then when the second number starts. it blinked 7 times all together before it took a long pause. so i'm thinking the the number might of been 3 and 4. but i guess i'll go to autozone to find out for sure.

ok.. i went to autozone and the guy told me that he couldn't find out the engine code because he can't hook up his little machine to my car because he said that our eclipses don't have a connection to hook it up.
i couldn't find it either, so where is the little connection?

i think the connection is the blue harness under the drivers side dash, but i could be wrong (i have a 95, BTW, and i think its different in later model years).
go here for a list of what the codes mean, its about halfway down the page:
