#3486, "Optima Batteries"

This is kind of a stupid question, but does anyone know if you can put the Optima Blue Top batterie (Designed for marine use) on your car? One reason I ask this is because you can buy them on carparts.com (a car site)

Ya, I know they make car batteries, the red top and the yellow top. But I am a perfectionist and I would want to put a blue top and grey bottom in my engine to match everything else in my engine if possible. Or does anyone know if there are any other blue batteries out there???

Sorry for such a stupid post:-)

LAST EDITED ON 16-Jun-01 AT 04:48 AM (PST)

I wanted to do the same just to match the damn thing but end up getting a red top. No reason you couldn't get the blue top. My engine compartment is all to hell now with everthing blue and a red battery. Just bought it two days ago. I think I'm gonna break out the masking tape, paint the top and hope it doesn't explode in the process.

is it 12v ?
if so i think it should work but i believe you should contact optima in case.
also, i think marine batteries are all deep cycle, which i've heard don't last as long as primary batteries for cars.
i thought of getting a red top and painting it also

i talked to optima and although "HIGHLY" discouraged you can paint the top. i have a yellow top deep cycle (big boy) and all you have to do is make sure you dont paint the air stones. there are 2 airstones for venting that cant be covered or painted. i am going to paint mine black and keep teh red and yellow optima sticker on it. or maybe i will paint it red. dont know but dont use spray paint either. that was another thing they said not to do because it may eat away at the plastic putting weak points in teh plastic. they said to get a plastic primer and a high grade sand paper. like 2000-3000 grit and to lighty...and he said LIGHTLY sand the top adn then brush on a coat of plastic primer on the top...remembering not to paint over the airstones. then just brush on as many coats as it takes to get a good shine with the paint you want. he said that brushable automotive or krylon paint would work best. hope this helps and remember that if you do this i am not responsible for any accidents that occur...i havent done this so "kids dont try this at home" <---gotta say that to cover my ass just like optima said it to cover theirs

I know this is getting off the post a little bit, but I have a Red Top right now, but one of my friends was telling me about these Dynabat batteries. Anyone using one or know of someone that is. I have seen the ads and they are tiny and supposedly pretty good. Maybe something easily hidden would work even better, dunno...any ideas on that???

CCA = Cold Cranking Amps

Basically a really important feature, it shows how many Amps your batter will push to start your engine. Preferably 700+CCAs, ideally 1000+CCAs.

My red top has 1050CCA. The regular red top has 850 I think. Blue top must be $$ cause the yellow top is like $170. They are both deep cycle.

sorry if i'm too late, forgot to mention, you could get the exact same batteries from diehard/sears for a little less cash.
i think the website for thenm is diehardbatteries.com, and you'll see they have a model thats identical and has that same spiracell tech. they are made by diehard for optima, just like all the amp wiring kits and all that mess, the majority are made by the same chinese and stamped here in america by stinger,lightning,etc.
The only ones, as afar as i'm concenrend that do there stuff inhouse is esoteric(streetwires), thus the price.
just some more free info for y'all emoji
