lemme know guys

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

I don't believe the Neon cams are interchangeable with our 420A. If I'm not mistaken, it has a different duration/lift value.

Nope. From what I understand the the neon head is backwards to ours. So the cam positioning sensor on the neon camshaft will not fit .

Neon cams will work but you have to re-index them 180 degrees or something like that

Let's get this figured out.

On the DOHC Neon....the intake cam is in the front, with the cam position sensor being reverse from the cam gear.

The exhaust cam has no sensor.

Just think of it as half of an Eclipse with more power emoji

Call Howell. Say, "Please order the Crane 22 grind for Eclipse/Talon 420A". Howell says, "Please give credit card information." Give it to him. Wait 6-8 weeks and they will show up.

Make sure you order a set of cam gears so that you can index the cams once you're ready to get things put together.

Be careful with the 22 grinds. Don't think that you can run these without at least 10.5:1 compression, full porting, valve springs/retainers and bigger injectors. An AFC, EGT, and A/F meter are REQUIRED to tune. These aren't your normal drop in bumpsticks.

Well, these would be going in a 2.4, so if it is built up, then the usual rules are all changed. The 2.4 makes it's peak torque at 4000 RPM stock, and that is with a shorter set of intake manifold runners. So on a 2.4 with the 2.0 manifold and no work done, then it is entirely possible that the torque peaks at a lower RPM then that. Now, the 2.0 head is more geared towards higher RPM power (in spite of the long intake mani runners, which I can not, for the life of me, figure out), so it isn't so bad. I still would guess that the torque peak is at a bit too low of an RPM. So a more aggressive camshaft with a little bit more overlap might make a motor with a torque peak that is a bit higher. But how aggressive on the cams? Who knows. Gotta experiment on this.

Wouldn’t the eclipse's head, intake, and cams convert a lot of the 2.4L torque to high end?

Well, the casting of the head is the same, unless you are comparing to the new PT Cruiser, where the head is more geared towards air volume (which means high RPM airflow velocity, and high end), which would actually mean that our head pushes the torque band down. The intake manifold, as I covered in my previous post, is longer then the Stratus manifold, with longer runners meaning lower RPM torque peak, our manifold would lower the torque peak further. Lastly, the cam grind that we have is more similar to the Stratus then it is to the Neon. Hence, the Neon has 150 HP and we have 140. We have 140 because, although the torque quantity is similar, the place where we make it is lower. Therefore, if the torque is equal, the motor with the lower horsepower rating will have a lower torque peak. Our cams are slightly more high-RPM tuned then the Stratus, but not by a ton. Hence I am trying to shorten my runners and do other things to increase the airflow velocity at high RPMs which should push my power peak back up. I don't know exactly how this will relate to the 2.4, but I think that the torque peak would be moved from 4000 up to 4200 RPM with the addition of the 2GNT head and manifolds. I could be wrong, however, as this is all untested and undocumented, and as such, does not qualify as data, let alone reproducable data.

Neon's really don't produce 150 hp. I hear that is a little wishful thinking by dodge. Yeah, your right, there is really no way to know untill our swaps our finish. Im guessing that the torque and hp are going to level out a little. I can't wait!!!!! Time will tell emoji

By the way, I don’t have a problem with misinformation. I just have a problem with lying. We already cleared this up when you said that you where misinformed. Also, I never mention your name until you identified yourself in a response to that post. I thought we let bygones be bygones, oh well.......

I just wanted to make sure that everything was perfectly crystal clear. I have been misunderstood on a couple more occasions, and I am tempted to isolate myself from others because of this. I did not mention you, I just wanted to make sure that all was well with everything else. My apologies if you took that as a personal shot. It wasn't meant as such. I see why some people have become angry in replying to others. Being nice isn't working. I guess the best way not to get blamed for misinformation and stuff is to not share information, and I fear that is the point that I am reaching. I think I will post this to the pits.

You said this, right? Sounds like a personal shot. Even if you ARE including me in a group, it still is a personal shot. I just going to said, dont write checks your ass can't cash.
