I just recently got my car back from a rebuild and about a week later i noticed a annoying rattling noise coming from the tranny side area when ever I go in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.... only at low rpms. This noise is very annoying, but othewise the car is fine.... i am jes getting a little curious to what this is cause it is kind of loud.

is it coming from underneath your car or from the engine? cause if it's coming from underneath it could be a heater sheild loose. mine was recently loose and only rattled at about 2500 rpm.

if its at lower rpms chances are its a heat shield. at lower rpm's the is more reverberation which shakes the broken heat shield. if it is the shield, either pull it off, or slap a hose clamp around it to keep it snug. later chris

I found out (if you can remember the post about the really strange leafy sound), that that's what it was, it got worse and a friend is like "hey, you got a loose heat shield" just from listening to it... it's great how those things just rust to shit on our cars, I have so many hose clamps down there it's crazy..
My car does make wierd sounds in the lower rpm's with the transmission though... sounds like rattling (not the heat shield either)
