I had no idea, but on a car show yesterday, forgot which one they replaced the fluids in an LS1 with royal purple and netted an 8 HP gain from just reducing friction. Thats neat!!

it was hot rod magazine. i saw the same thing that day. thing was that it's a full synthetic oil and such. they swapped out the oil, tranny fluid, rear diff fluid and added some stuff to help the radiator fluid. all and all with less friction but good lube, you get better hp in the end.

In the Redline website they also claim they gain over 4HP in a dyno test with oil change and Tranny fluid. I think it is belivable since they are synthetic and the oil runs faster trough the motor and seem to protect better then dino oil.

yea, you lose about 30% of the power your gasoline would make through friction...if you can reduce your friction then you can reduce the percentage lost and make more hp. There is this stuff created by the government and it has a friction ratio of .000001:1. It is the most frictionless substance ever made. If it was put in a car, you would never have to change it, and you would probably be making 50-60 more hp or maybe even more. on the downside it costs like $30,000 per gallon to make.

it's also neat when the royal purple turns into gunky light brown snot after 3k miles in a perfectly good vr-4. I'll never use that crap again.

Yup yup. Gunky brown snot is what I got after my dad hooked up(accidentally) the water cooler line to the intake vacuum during a motor swap over 15 years ago. Nasty. I had to flush everything and start over.
I've never seen anything quite like when we started it up too....brhump bruhmp brhump bom bom bom bom (I'm thinking YEAH this is AWESOME!)...bom bom bom bom bom bom...(whats all this smoke from?).. bumm bumm bumm bumm bumm....(oh my God I'm choking in here, I guess I better shut it down).
