It's been on for 2 days and the car finally died today. The battery was totally dead. So I tightened the alt belt a little and jumped the car. I was driving for about 20 minutes and it was fine and the light stayed off. After 20 min. I decided to get on it once and the light came back on. The first time it came on was after I drove it hard. I'm getting the alt checked tomorrow. Any ideas why it came on after I revved it pretty hard?

Alternator is bad. Its either that, or loose batt connections, or loose alternator charge wire connection..

I agree with Matt. I actually experienced this same problem last week. Sometimes my battery light would come on when I'm sitting still at a light; sometimes my car would just shut off when I come to a stop or is about to accelerate from a stop; sometimes the ABS light would also come on, and the engine would idle really rough (Crane ignition not getting enough juice).

I looked around the battery and noticed that the nut at the +12V connector--main power cables, and other cables that feeds from that terminal--was a little loose. If I wiggle the cables my alarm would go off. I found out the nut and bolt that clamps that connector was a little stripped and it wouldn't fully tighten. I replaced that with a new nut and bolt, and now, everything is fine.

I'm not saying that's what's wrong with yours, but it's something to look at.

I would say alternator....almost anywhere automotive (autozone) well test it for free. Although once I had a problem with my alternator belt slipping and not getting enough power out of it. Yet, most always its your alternator.
