Okay Ive figured out where to install my gauge(ashtray) with a custom made cover,but where do I find a knockout at in my firewall to run the sending unit..... please I dont want to drill ino something... any answers would help.........
And if anyone knows whether or not messing with the factory water temp guage will affect my ECU, please let me know. Im not that worried about it because I'll install it no matter what unless someone yells me that it'll fu#% my sh*t up...........I cant see why it would make a diiference.

you can cut a small hole in it and run wires through it with no problems. Cut a hole, tie the wire to a coat hanger and push it through. Try to put the hole as far away from the steering shaft as possible to make sure nothing gets tangled up.

And, you shouldn't have to worry about water or anything else getting through the boot, it's several layers thick and has gunk in it as well to help seal things up.

You don't have to drill a hole into the firewall..

On you passenger side behind the glovebox there is a hole already where the wires come into your car. Straighten a metal coathanger and stick it through the boot... then curl the end of the coathanger around the wire you need to pull into the car and just pull it through.

Try to make sure the end of the coathanger where you crimp it around the wire isn't too large because the boot is a tight fit.

That's it!

Either place form above will work for you. See which ones gives you the most room to run the sensor lines.

As far as messing with the stock coolant temp sensor. Don't remove it. Use a T fitting and bridge your sending unit in. But the ECU uses the coolant temp to adjust fuel a little. So if you remove it you can have problems. But putting a T in and hooking the stock and your gauge sensor will be just fine.

Thanks for the help huys but my problem now is that the capillary tube is a foot too short to hook up my guage.... Im pissed because I custom made a guage pod that fit in the ashtray compartment......... I guess now my problem is getting an electric one instead.....PISSED , because it looks tight...
