Hi, Im replacing the Head Gasket on my 420 and after I cleaned the residual gasket material off the surface, I noticed that there is pitting on the areas where the head gasket was blown. its not TOO too bad but its definitely noticeable if you rub your finger on the surface. Is this gonna affect the sealing of the new MLS head gasket? I probably wouldnt be worried with a fiber HG, but the MLS is all the dealer sells now. If anyone has an answer id love to hear... Thanks

I had the same situation with mine, and I just brought the head in and had it resurfaced, valve job, and port/polished. Whether or not you need to have it resurfaced to seal right depends on how deep the pits are and where the pits are located. If I were you though, I would just have it resurfaced just to be safe. You arent gonna want to replace your head gasket again for awhile I'm assuming... Also, if it leaks into the pits again after the new gasket, it will do even more damage and cause you to have to mill the head down quite a bit in the future...

I agree with Matt. Get it resurfaced.
