#32905, "Stock Intake AirBox Removal On 96 Talon Esi"

Hey guys, I tried doing a search through old posts but couldn't find relevant information.

I'm trying to replace my intake right now, and came across a problem. There's this pipe that feeds back into the stock intake airbox, which seems to be coming from the bottom half of the header. It is circled in the pics. What am I supposed to do with the sensor attached to it? And how am I supposed to use an aftermarket intake on this car?

Just take it off, I think that dealers were supposed to remove that part anyways. I have a 95, (still have the sensor attached), but the part that is supposed to run to the headers? has been removed and capped off. (Disconnect the wires running to it also). No ill affects will be seen. Just make sure everything is sealed up.

Do you know how to plug up that whole if my dealer won't do it for me? I think that recall is USA only...

So THAT is what the secondary pulsed air injection is! Never seen pics of it, even. Yeah, I think that any dealership should take it out, even in Canada.

I'm gonna take a look at mine in the morning and tell you what I see, I'm thinking it's just a bolt you put in, but I'll check just to be sure. or maybe some kind of screw on cap (metal of course) plastic would burn real quick.

I was thinkin plumbing cap, but the thing is, I can't remove the metal part where it becomes rubber hose. It's stuck on, and i cant get enough leverage to unscrew it.

I have a 95 esi should be the same setup. When i got my car non of those hoses are there the spot where the rusty looking part meets the clean silver is caped off with a metal nut but the top side of the nut is sealed.... i always wondered why it looked like it was supposed to connect to soemthing.

take a torch to that mother!!!! (the clean silver thingy) avoid getting the rusty part hot, if not..... um, I don't reccomend this at all (only a last resort) drill a hole in the silver thing (all the way through) heat up the connection, put a long metal rod through the hole, and pull toward you like no tomorrow!!!. Just make sure the metal rod will take it.
