I have the stock crank pulley in my car. When I turn on my A/C, it feels like I'm towing the car behind me!! My car just loses so much power.

I know that an UDP will free up some horsepower because it's less rotating mass, but will it also reduce the power loss when you run your A/C??

I dont really notice a difference, my AC still slows me down with the UDP. Just turn it off if someone wants to play.

Yeah its definitely better but you can still really feela difference when the AC is on.....

Still noticeable but WAY less than the stock one. Helps the rpms climb faster as well. The af/x w/ my lightened crank the rpms go up too fast. I had to get used to it because I kept reacting too slow and would bounce off the factory rev limiter.

you 'might' feel some power with the udp, but i took mine off because my ac sucked and my lights started to blink also when the headlights on... if you like your ac too cool you down when its hot its alot better to keep your stock crank pulley.. my opinion... its not worth it.. i just turn up the boost more ..hehe

Yes I live in Phoenix, and yes I'm crazy.

But a UDP will reduce the power loss from AC, but it won't blow QUITE as cold as it did before, but close enough not to worry about.

Well, actually I have a few reasons for considering going with an UDP. First, it adds horsepower. Although probably not very noticeable because I'm already turbocharged. Second, because I hate turning on the defroster and the car automatically turns the A/C on too and my car feels like I'm only running on 3 cylinders.

But the main reason is when I re-installed my engine, I noticed that I have a few little cracks in my stock crank pulley. It didn't feel like it was weak or anything, but I'd hate to have it separate and break engine parts!!

But since I really don't NEED an UDP, does anyone have a stock crank pulley that's in good condition they're willing to give up??

I'd get a UDP, it'll help you off the line to rev up (spool) a little faster, and if you're gonna change crank pullies, you might as well add something better.

Also, there's probably a way to disable the ac in defrost mode, I know Hondas and Neons are able to do that.

There's a slight difference when you have the UDP. The engine actually revs up a little quicker, but the UDP puts out less voltage. My headlights were quite dimmer with the UDP. As for the A/C, it's still cold--just not as cold as it should be. I personally thought there're more cons than pros, so I've gotten rid of mine, since my car is a daily driver.
