Has anyone installed/used Gude Performance Cams. I'm wondering what peoples experience with those cams are.

They are alright, seem to give some top-end performance. Keep in mind that they are re-grinds, so that means you will have to shim your followers to keep them from ticking.

I'm sure there are some people on the list who have them and cant stop raving about them, but I have heard lots of bad stories about Gude cams. They advertise the car making lots of power using one of their Gude components, like head, cams, etc., and many times the owner is not satisified. Stay away from Gude as many horror stories exist about cars breaking after installing their parts. This tells you something...Bill Gude, owner of Gude Performance, doesn't even manage and work on his company anymore.

Get Crowers or Cranes, avoid Gude

Just think of it as half of an Eclipse with more power

I love my Bullfrogs. Excellent performance gain. I also got a great deal on them $200 used.

If you're going to buy a new set, try to stick with new billits like Crane or Crower. If the specs are equivalent(lift and duration) new billits are simply better than regrinds.

I don't know what kind of deal you're looking at, but I just called Gude and they want $525 for thier regrinds. Crane's #16(Drag grind) cam is comparable to the Gude grind except Crane makes them from new billits. You can get Crane cams from Howell for $450. IMHO Gude overprices thier regrinds - regrinds should be cheaper then new billits.

If your goal is really to save money, have your cams reground to whatever spec you want. I hear that it only costs somwhere around $100 to do that.

Also, one problem that some people seem to have with Gude cams is that they seem to want to shim the lifters when they install the cams. You should not have to do this with Gudes. I didn't do it and they work like a hot damn.

Sorry to rave Karl, but I love my Bullfrogs. To be fair though, if I DID have Cranes, I'd probably love them too. Maybe people should start raving about the Crane or Crower drag grind. Does anyone even own them?

That's cool, MetalJim. I knew there some people who liked their Gude Bullfrog cams. I was just saying that I have heard stories in the past about problems with their cams. I'm sure that not all of their cams were defective.

much of the ZX2 community deals with Gude (only major company for zetec stuff besides Esslinger) and I haven't heard really anything bad about their parts.. only that their service is compared to shoving a 10ft pole up your ass.. not good. and half the time it's trouble enough just buying something from them.. let alone getting service/support later. But I have heard that their products (if you can get them) are pretty good. I mean shit.. their head package for the Zetec motors gains 58HP! over stock (not at peak power and with supporting exhaust work, still a nice gain though).
