The new IAC came in today and it did nothing to help my idling problem so I'm back to the drawing board...If you are new or need to recap this is my problem still:
My car right now is idling at 4700RPM. When driving without even hitting the gas it gains speed all the way up to 5000RPM, at this point if you hit the brake sometimes it well slow down losing RPM until 3000RPM which at that point it kicks back on to 5000RPM. First: I checked the throttle to make sure there was no sticking and that it was in its correct postion. Also tryed to reset my computer. Still continues with problem. Second: I replaced the Throttle Placement Sensor. Still the problem continues. Third: I made some phone calls and was suggested that I replace my MAP sensor or "some airflow sensor". I called the Mitsubishi dealer and had a talk with the garage there and they said it might be the computer. I was going to get it put on a tester, yet thats going to be around 100 dollars for itself. Any suggestions or simular problems please respond.
Also: There were no check lights on. I checked for error code anyways and it was ok. Also checked the vacumm lines as best as I could... Usualy you can hear a hiss from a leak, but not at 4700RPM
The Car is a 1996 Eclipse GS 5-speed
Ive changed the IAC now as well, and have checked all valve lines I can think of.

Then I would really, really think that you have a pretty good vacumn leak. After all that you have already done I think thats it is time to take the car to a professional. Or check a second or third time to make sure that all vac lines are secure and not leaking or ripped.

You may very well have a broken gasket on the intake manifold. It could be at the TB to manifold connection, upper manifold to lower manifold connection, or at the lower manifold to head connection. Any broken gasket at one of those connections will leak air into the engine. Its exactly like opening the throttle more...just lets air in...the engine revs up in response. I think excess air has got to be making it into the engine for you to idle at 4700 RPM. That means you probably have a mechanical problem allowing excess air into the engine (not sensor related). Check all over the manifold for leaking sounds (if you can hear over the engine rev'ing).

I called and ordered the throttle body gasket since it had missing sections out of it. I'm going to be real upset at my self if thats the problem since it cost me $1 and I've already replaced 160 dollars worth of other parts. (although I wouldnt really mind since my car well be ready to go by this weekend) Thank you for the new suggestion...It was the first I've heard that one. Lets just hope.

An easy thing to do to check for leaks of that size is to bust out the spray can of carb cleaner/brake cleaner/WD-40. Let the sucker idle at 4700RPM, and spray here and there. When the spray hits the area close to the leak, it will induct the cleaner material, whcih does not burn well. Your engine will sputter and idle down. Lather, rise, repeat until you've determined exactly where the leak is.

Well, if the idle is that high cause of a vac leak, then you should be about to hear it in the engine bay cause thats a pretty good sized leak. Or probably even feeling areas with your hand you will be able to find the air leak.
