First off if this question has been asked before I apologize, but I searched and didnt find what I was looking for. My question is what are the symptoms of a bad fuel filter? Because the other day while I was leaving the parking lot I would hit the gas and nothing would happen for a like a second and I dont know if it is because the car is dumping a shitload of fuel or if it is running lean as hell. Does anybody even have a clue as to why it happened? It hasnt happened since, but I dont want it to become a regular thing before I can find out what the culprit is TIA

not sure but change it anyway, it wouldn't hurt.

Our cars need the fuel filter changed alot i've done mine three times in the last 2 years

Yeah, mine is doing the same thing and it's exactly like the last vehicle I had which needed it's fuel filter changed. If it doesn't fix it I'll let you know...but I'd suggest doing that

Unfortunately the same symptoms apply to plugs, wires, and coil packs

well I replaced the plug wires and the plugs have only been on the car for about 5000 miles (i usually change them every oil change). The fuel filter is the same one that has been on the car since I got it two summers ago and God only knows if the dealership changed it before it was bought. How do I test the coil pack to make sure it is working ok? TIA

Toney if the fuel filter is the same one that came on the car then you really need to change it. I was the first person to change it on my car and let me tell you. My fuel filter was gross!!! after about 85k. As a matter of fact I'm changing it again soon. I believe on our cars the suggested time to change the fuel filter is 15k miles. Well since 100k is just around the corner for me its time to change it again.

Also make sure that the spark plug wires are securely fastened to the plugs and that you have a good connection.

well I know that the fuel filter is located in front of the rear right wheel on 96+ cars and on the 95 it is in the engine bay. But where can I get one cheaply? TIA Autozone wanted ~30 is that normal?

The fuel filter is not in the wheel well, but under the car just in front of the passenger side wheel well. Take off the wheel, and start following fuel lines and you will see it. I think I paid 20 bucks at autozone for mine.
