Let's see if I can explain this one.... I've had a problem for awhile with a "squeaky belt" on my car ever since I've had it(bought it new). I thought it would go away when I got my UDP but it didn't. It's kinda weird because back then it would squeak bad when it would rain and go away a few days afterwards. Then it got to the point where it just squeaked all the time. My only guess at the time is that it was the tensioner pulley($130) so I replaced that and the belt. Needless to say the problem is still there. Now, the interesting part is that if the car is sitting still I can rev the crap out of it and don't get any noise. Once I'm out driving it that's when the squeak kicks in. I thought the belt was too tight so I loosened it alittle and that didn't help any(seems like it's worse now). Is it possible that I have the tensioner bolt for the pulley too tight?? I can see a little bit of wobble in the power steering pulley but it is very small. If any of you have any ideas please let me know. I'm going to take another look at it tomorrow. Is there anything else that spins while the car is running on the passenger side?

man...i feel your pain. i just went through a 6 week ordeal with all those belts

you didnt mention anything about checking the alternator belt, so i would start there. mine was just a little bit loose and it squeaked when i first started the car. reach your arm down in the very back passengers side and push down on the top of the belt. you shouldnt be able to move it more than about 1/2 inch or so. if it feels loose, get under the car and loosen the bottom alternator bolt that holds it to the bracket (keep in mind theres a nut that holds it in place, so youll need two wrenches), then from the top of the car loosen the other bolt and push the alternator away from the engine to increase belt tension. tighten that bolt and then the bottom one and youre good to go. these bolts are a little hard to reach, so it helps if you have small and nimble hands. other than that, im not sure what could be causing it. as far as the play in p/s pulley, i think you are OK. my a/c compressor has a little bit of play when the belt is off (i can wobble it a little, maby an 1/16 inch or so), and it doesnt cause any problems.

Check if your alternator or power steering belts are loose? Is the squeaking sound a belt noise or pulley hitting an object noise? Make sure you tighten the UDP. If you didn't tighten it enough, it will rub against the car's plastic pulley cover. You can also check if the belts are not destroyed or ripped at any point. Make sure the belts are on the rails of the pulley throughout each of the car's pulleys. Good luck as I have had my share of the damn squeaky belt noise...most of the time it was due to a loose p/s belt.

My squeaky belts was caused by the PS pulley being loose. Just use a pry bar and 11/16" socket and see if you can tighten it.

Also make sure its coming from a belt....If your car is idle it should still make the noise. Tighten your belt more and see what happens. Get it to the point where theres hardly any play. Worse case scenario is your belt snaps. Also does having your A/C on or off make any difference? My only suggestion would be tighten the crap out of it then lub it up.

i had the same problem with the belt squeeking after it rained.

i got some belt dressing from car parts, lubed it up good around the tension pulley, and on the belt itself and it went away...

my PS belt squeals like a stuck pig when I have my a/c on, I'll bet yer bottom dollar that's what it is bro

I thought of the A/C thing and that doesn't make a difference. If I drive the car for awhile(20+min) shut it down for a couple of minutes and hop back in it, the squeaking is way less than before. I'll check the alternator belt in a few minutes and see how it is. The weird thing about this is that it doesn't do it if I'm sitting still. I can rev it and I don't get any noise.

Well, I believe I found the problem to be the power steering pulley. I shot some lubricant on it while it was acting up for the first time sitting still and the noise went away. I checked the alternator belt also and replaced that with a shorter one since I couldn't tighten it anymore(belt was too long with UDP). I have only driven it for a few minutes after letting it warm up long enough for the fan to kick on and I didn't hear anything so hopefully it's fixed. To those who replied, thanks for the help.
