#32140, "Muffler/Exhaust sorta question..help?"

Hey guys..

Ok, so heres another question. Last week i had bought and installed a new muffler. This new one was one of those straight through cannister type of mufflers. I read once on the board somewhere that these types of muffler result in a huge loss of backpressure, which causes alot less torque. Is this true? I ask this because ever since my new muffler has been on, i get this feeling that my accelleration and such is dog slow, and there is no torque whatsoever. Any Reason for this? and is there a such thing as a muffler besides the stock piece that produces alot of good backpressure and torque in the low end?

Thanks guys!

Jim

yo, all i know is that you dont want backpressure, backpressure is bad. did u just get a muffler or cat back exhaust? are you turbo or naturally aspirated? need more info on the problem/issue.

if ur n/a u would want a gst muffler. keeps your low end while helping your high end. it doesn't sound as mean as an aftermarket muff but it gets the job done. not to mention help keep those pesky cops off your back.

the truth is, if you want an aftermarket muffler with a good sound then your going to have to deal with losing a lil low-end torque. its just something you have to get used to. but if you dont care then get the gst muffler and have fun.
