Just need to know if any of the rebuild kits out there are plug n play, or do they all require machining? I am looking at the howell stuff and i know i can handle the rebuild myself, but i would like to not have that much down time without getting a new block shipped. And i know you guys have answered this before, but what kind of machining am i looking at if i do need it?? Tia, yo

You will probably need to have your cylinders bored and honed depending on what condition they are in now. But even if you do get pistons with the same sized bore, it's still a good idea to have the cylinders honed smooth again. I've seen that most people that rebuild also grind the crankshaft or at least get it polished. Also, decking the block and milling the head will insure a tight seal with the new head gasket and fix any warping that might have occured. I also had a 3 angle valve job done with my rebuild.

So I would say no, there isn't a plug-n-play rebuild kit available. All rebuilds will require some machine work.
