Okay...I got my 1999 RS about 2 months ago. I've been reading here for awhile now and I've noticed something. Am I supposed to have a 7200 RPM rev limit? Right now it's at 6500...now someone told me it was because of my reverse indiglo gauges...so I took the bitches off and no difference. My gauges look exactly like my tach only a different color and it still hits the rev limiter at 6500.

Am I missing something here? Maybe I've got the wrong ECU? Maybe I've got the wrong instrument cluster? I don't think it would be the ECU cause I'm sure it wouldn't run at all....I'm grasping for ideas here.

My tach runs up to 8000 just to answer any future questions.

Most indiglo gauges use the automatics tach which redlines at 6500 and is a 8000rpm tach. The 5-speed tach goes to 9000rpm with a redline at 7000 but you can take it up to 7200-7600rpm. Visibly, the redline is in the exact same place just the numbers are different on the tachs. So instead of hitting 6500rpm you are in fact hitting 7200rpm so you have nothing to worry about. Everything is fine.

^^^ what he said.. someone must have replaced your instrament cluster with one from an A/T or something. the MTX tach is supposed to read up to 9K.

but now you know that you've been running your car way harder then you thought you were, hehe. don't blow it man
