#3186, "Oil Residue in TB..."

I have a cheap $60.00 intake and noticed when i opened the hood that it had come out of the rubber flange at the TB. I noticed a thin layer of black residue around the rubber and the end of the intake as well as on the inside side of the TB plate. This was a bit thick, like dipping your finger in black ink. Is this normal? Does the oil come from the crankcase breather(the little one on the right, top of the valve cover, if thats what it is)? Should i be concerned?
Thanks for your help.
Tim

A couple things contribute to this. One is the crancase ventalation back into the intake track of the driovers side of the valev cover. The other is the EGR system (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Which takes dirty exhaust gas and recirculated it under certain conditions. Such as idle and steady cruising throttle. It's done to improve emissions, but what it achgieves that matters to me is it gunks up the TB andintake manifold with the residue you are describing. When I have install my ported/polished intake manifold I will cap off the EGR system ( I already run two K&N breathers to keep gunk/hot air out of the intake track) so I don't dirty the manifold.

just cap off the small inlet on the intake pipe. run a vacuum type hose from the valve cover down and vent it under the engine into the atmosphere.
