When I accelerate it is constant for a second and then it seems like some giant grabbed the back of my car and is holding it even though i put more pressure on the gas pedal....until I really force it down then it launches like the giant let go....kind of a lurching effect...very strange...almost like a clog/unclog effect?
Umm...Car kind of idles up and down a bit more often lately as well.
When I press the gas pedal it's kind of soft to a certain point, but then all of a sudden it lurches once it picks up the gear(maybe? not sure what it's called)
Oh yeah, my car is burning some major oil I guess. I go through about a quart in 1 week and gas mileage is super low now...like 15-18 mpg.
Let's see...my clutch is really soft now...no "grip". The gearshift is kind of rough and feels "grindy" or a "click click" sound when I shift gears...as in it is hard to shift and not smooth like it used to be.(transmission fluid for ya? or not?)
In other words, my car is gay as shit! Anyone know have any ideas on this broad list of topics, please help a brother out!

I've been having some of the same problems, I have an automatic transmission a sometimes when I acclerate really fast and it would be still in 1st gear and the rpms would get up to around 6'500 and wont shift into the next gear so I have to take my foot off the gas and put my car in neutral and the put it back in drive. I just checked my coolant yesterday and it was bonedry empty so my dad filled it up with water, well what good is that going to do? It'll just boil out in a day or 2 I told him just putting water in there wasn't going to help anything. My gas mileage has also been like crap. I'm going to get a tune-up when ever I get my turbo kit in and setup. How much does a regular tune up cost? why I'm asking is because I don't work on my car one of my friends do but sometime this fall/winter I hope to be doing my own stuff to my car.

so, you're ^^^ having problems with your car and your just gonna wait till you do a turbo install before you "tune it up" ? First things first. Make sure that car is running MINT before you turbo it. Get all the stuff taken care of FIRST to eliminate MAJOR problems down the road.

hey ghost so nice to hear from you...lol..... hey tell you what ...why dont u run a compression test on your car this may tell you what is wrong..you oil consuption is kind of clear...you need piston rings.. the rattling noise im not too sure about that.. honestly i would say it would be time to rebuild your engine ..or if u dont have that much money i would replace the piston rings headgasket clutch timing belt timing belt tensioner..idler pulleys waterpump..oil pan gasket..intake mani gasket as well as exhaust and tbody gasket...(optional) and your tranny oil..dont forget spark plugs..and plug cables..as well as your thermostat(i would do it just ecauseits cheap) and your coolant....and u ay want to change youro2 sensors.. just a thought i did this on mine (except for the piston rings and the o2sensor cause i thought they were ok) and believe me there is no such feeling of joy as seeing and driving something that your 100% sure its in good condition

i would check the simple things, like leaky sensors or hg before you go and assume you need rings. if you needed rings you'd be geting a lot of blow by also(oil in your intake).
about the hesitation, you might need some new plugs and wires, or maybe your fuel filter is clogged. although it's not great to do this often, you may want to run some injector cleaner through, and also get some tb cleaner and clean out the gunk in the tb and intake mani. the tb cleaner will also help get some gunk off the valves. could also be the egr sys acting up. are you sure no sensors(o2 especially) have gotten knocked loose, or mesased up? could be that too.
the rough shifting is probably due to lack of fluid or the fact that it needs to be drained and changed. mine kinda it "clunky" also. i think the fluid just needs changing.
i would try some of these things before assuming the worst, but like they said, do a comp test also. i would bet that it's probably not something major. hope this helps a bit.
