#31762, "redoing everything"

I've been talking to my dad (he a mechanic). we've been talking about replacing everything in my car. like putting new pistons, cam shafts, springs, rods, cam gears, power pulley, throttle body and intake manifold. he can get everything really cheap from one of his friends. but i don't want to do it, if it does not give me some power. what kinda power do you think it will give and can anybody think of anything else that I need to replace.

Well I'm not the smartest engine guy on here....but it will depend on.

A. What parts you're putting in.
B. Machine work or not.
C. What kind of bolt-ons you have.

If you replace everything in your engine with stock stuff you're going to have stock output. But if you go with crazy stuff like higher compression pistons, hot cams, titanium springs and retainers, mill your head, port and polish your intake manifold/throttle body....then you could develop some pretty respectable power. Build it for a turbo aplication then boost that bitch.

it will be cheaper money spent vs. power gained to just build up the bottom end with the kit from howell and then add a turbo from either HRC, NEW edge or Star. 275+ HP

But no one has really tried/completed a full all motor car, and you could easily get into the 200+ HP range with cams/port work, high compression pistons etc.. and higher red line (afx ECU).
