well, i finally fixed my problem with throwing p/s belts, and wouldnt you know it 3 days later somthing else break down....
basicly, the car (automatic) wont shift out of first. i tried dropping it out of "D" to a lower gear to see if it would shift at least to second...no luck. transmission was replaced about 1.5 years ago. any clue what could be causing this? the only recent work to the car was an oil change yesterday.

When the tranny went out on my last eclipse it did the same thing. It royally sucked, I had to drive through evening Denver traffic in low gear to get the car to the dealership.

DOH! just checked the fluid....came up with about 1/4 of an inch of fluid and pieces of metal on the end of the dipstick. i checked the level about a month ago and havnt noticed any leaking, so i assumed that wasnt the problem. time to get to autozone and buy some tranny fluid...
also...wtf is limp mode? is this somthing the computer does to help prevent damage, or is it just a mechanical problem?

Limp mode is just that when our trannies encounter a potential problem they will not allow you to go over 2nd gear, just what was listed above. this is to prevent any further damage to the tranny that may be caused, it is a really nice feature.
