#31691, "anyone know a shop in BayArea who can install UDP?"

Yep....this modding is addictive and it was about time I got one of these. I live near S.F. in CA. Does anyone know of a good shop (or person) who can install an AFX UPD without killing my wallet? I'm too much of a wuss to drop my engine and get a hold of a 3 ton pulley puller. tia

thanks for the insightful post....what is the point of your reply? maybe you didn't read the post- I don't want to do it myself.

Plus why are you assuming that everyone wants to turbo?

Well, sorry to make an assumption, guess you just want to me stuck running 17's and 18's all your life.

Hey, I'm sorry, but I thought you might have had an ounce of mechanical ability.

Hey, have fun losing 100 bucks for something that would take you an hour or two.

yeah sorry nobody can give you a reccommendation to a good shop man. if i knew one for something like that, id hook ya up. usually i try to do everything myself because i fear shops so much. so when i really need to go to a shop its nice to know a reputable one. and oh yeah, your ahead of the bunch by deciding to have something like the udp done by a proffesional....because unlike alot of mods...you can really screw things up with the udp install. there is lots of possibilities for bending and all that good stuff. and yeah cucumber, 17's and 18's all your life for not going turbo? hahaha half of the people at the track with turbo cant even get into the 14's, and with my nearly stock rs im rocking mid 15's with ease. swallow that biatch.

thanks 510eclipse.... reassuring to know this place still has a bit of brotherhood and not just flaming from a 4g63 lurker.

yeah, i've done a bunch of mechanical/maintenance stuff myself but UDP just one thing I won't touch....too many peeps complaining about problems.

Biatch, I don't respond too well to that. I don't understand this language. You must capitalize the word at the beginning of a sentence, and you end sentences with a period. It's simple. Anyway, I have been here a while man, and I HAD a 14 second 2GNT...2GNT...I'm still here because it is one of the best forums around. You run a mid 15 on a nearly stock RS with ease. I'll believe it when I see it. Todd runs mid 15's in a modded RS and he is a pretty good driver. I highly DOUBT you run mid 15's in a "nearly" stock RS. When you think you can beat either car I've owned, your welcome to talk shit.

Both of you need to not take things so personally when I respond. My goal is not to be a dick, but when your ignorance just keeps on shining through in your posts, it is time for me to become an asshole.

Hey, you two have fun wasting your money paying people to put stuff in for you. I'll be running 12s.

Note to self----> To ask for help with a performance mod ( be it the self install or help with shop info) in the performance mod section might be asking for too dayum much---> emojiSaid tongue in cheek of course

Lighten up the guy just wanted info (judging by the easily decipherable/understandable/intelligible/Simply Put/Easy to Read/ question he asked on the subject line)

my friend gave me a couple names of shops in the east bay. i dont know how good they are, all i know is that they are tuner shops so they should be able to get it done. call both and ask for quotes, then try callin a couple others. ya dont have anything to loose. theres this motorsports techniques in hayward off of west winton they should be able to do it, or bozz performance in fremont should be able to also. im not sure what part of the bay your in but hey its a start. and id also call as many tuner shops as you can in the south bay, theres some good shops out there. generally youll find the better deals in the bigger citys. over here in fremont and all around, generally youll get rapped by prices. however i went up to daily city to get my custom cat back done.... went to a place called "golden auto muffler" they charged me 140 total. that included all the piping and labor. oh yeah...all mandrel bends too. and they even let me get under the car with them to decide exactly how i wanted it, how i wanted the muffler angled...etc. pretty good deal huh? good luck with those shops man.

edit: oh yeah your up near sf, i should take more time to read things, try and find some decent shops in daily city if you can emoji

how the hell did my post make you act like a dick? maybe you just are a dick.

>Both of you need to not take things so personally when I respond. My goal is not to be a dick, but when your ignorance just keeps on shining through in your posts, it is time for me to become an asshole.<

Take things personally when you respond? You just went ahead and attacked. No answer or useful info. And when ignorance shines through, you supposed turn into this asshole that you already are. Isn't this what this forum is for? So we can get questions answered by people who know more about the subject.

Is it just me or is Cucumber one of biggest idiots on this board?

Not Your Daddy is right.....make sure you don't post any questions in the performance section....

Thanks 510eclipse, I think i'll give Bozz a call.

You're married and you have a kid. It's real mature of you to call me an idiot. If you can prove I'm an idiot I'll admit to it.

If you weren't so IGNORANT you would have noticed that at the beginning of the thread I inserted a smiley, therefore showing my friendly smile and light-heartedness on the matter. You took it personally, which suprises me because you are a grown man with a family. Relax buddy, and think before you speak.

Oh, I'm done. The 18 year-old will be the bigger man and stop.

Be a man and not a whiny bitch.

are you done? finally! damn....

No wonder.....I was talking to an 18 year old...I assumed younger. As for proving anything...your third post on this thread speaks for itself.

Smiley face or no smiley face, I'm sure nobody has time for your crap....and my maturity level has nothing to do with this post or anything we discussed here.(It has a lot to do with my temperament though...I just don't take shit from anybody)

Remember...it all started with : "WTF did you respond to this post if you were just going to be dick"

so bigger man....I'm glad you are done.

will some moderator lock this up?

woohoo cheers for me, i guess i was informed that i am god behind the wheel today "Todd runs mid 15's in a modded RS and he is a pretty good driver," because i assure you my mods dont go far beyond stock, and my 14b is still sitting in the garage. rest assured ill get some time slips on here as soon as i remmeber which friend has a scanner. ill try to take a pic of it with my digital camera and see if that is clear enough to read but i doubt it will work. oh and cucumber id apologize for the name calling and invite you to come out to sears point tommarow and watch me run, but i dont think even that 12 second eclipse you dream of could get you out here to beautiful cali fast enough. good luck to everyone with their cars. emoji

I've been out to sears point with 510eclipse, and he ran a 15.9x 1/4mile. The only thing on his car was a ghetto rigged intake and an exhuast, plus a gutted interior. I don't know about the mid-15s with ease part emoji, but high 15s at least.

I wish I could make it out there again so soon, but it will have to be a while before I get out there again. You know when they close up for the season 510eclipse? Well I might be running an HRC Stage 2 kit the next time I make it out there, I think i should be able to beat my previous times with that emoji.

hey chachi, you can go run out there pretty much any wed. you werent there the second time i made it out. its amazing what softening the front suspension, lightening up a bit more, and lowering the air pressure can do. thanks for verifying the previous times though. emoji oh and the season ends mid november and im not sure but i think it might reopen as soon as feb. ill get back to you on that though. it works out perfect because snowboarding season starts back up mid november. its like lose one addiction and gain another. hotter girls at the ski resort woohoo emoji

From what I have read on doing this mod it is one of the more demanding. I have seen horror after horror of people who, after getting to the engine and pulling/breaking the original one, were unable to get the new one on. For those that were able to get it on there was talk of stripped bolts and damaged components. Then to top it off if it isn't lined up correctly you will be constantly replacing belts or listening to them squeal. My local mechanic said he will do it for 1 hour labor, about 70 bucks. This is a lot cheaper than if I bent the new pulley (100+ to buy another new one), or had to replace the belts constantly. Not to mention 70 bucks is a drop in the bucket for the 3 grand it will cost for a turbo.

I also live in an apartment complex where management gets irate if I check my spark plugs in the parking lot. Not all of us have a garage or a driveway.

I am sorry I do not live in the Bay area, otherwise I would help you find a good shop.

AEM CAI, AFX Underdrive Pulley, Greddy Header, Tsudo N1 2.5 stainless catback, Homemade groundwire kit

heh heh....I must live in the same apartment complex. I can't even check my oil dipstick! So i have to sneak the spark plug changes ( I think i'm pretty damn fast about it now....gap them in my apartment and then run out to the parking lot and change them. Personal best time is about 10 minutes. lol)

yeah...i've called around...sounds like most places will charge me about 1 hour worth of labor. thanks for looking out emoji
