Aint it werid, mechanics can take up thousand dollar engines but they dont understand the point of a cold air intake.

After my whole engine dilemna, the guy said if water gets sucked into the cai, blah blah blah, warranty woudlent cover it. I was like, i know that. So he says, "why dont you just cut the piping up to here and bend it back into your stock airbox. No one will know the difference and you will get the same airflow"

I just wanted to slap him and say, " SAME AIRFLOW!!!"

The whole point of a cai is to get colder air outside of the engine, not bend the piping to go back into my stock air intake.

Just a little ironic how mechanics can know so much....yet still know so little.

most stock airboxes pull 'cold' outside air anyway.. so perhaps that's why he said it.. although I don't know the exactly location the stock eclipse air box pulls from. but practically ever modern car I've seen the stock air box pulls from the fender or infront of the radiator which is just as good as any CAI

yeah, except for the fact the inlet for the stock airbox is 1/2 the size of the intake pipe.. The inlet on a stock 2gnt airbox is TINY, and RESTRICTIVE.

i've found that most conventional mechanics are so closed minded to after market parts and modding, and everything you do will just be "bad for the engine" for some reason. it's annoying sometimes.

I had an Isuzu Imark diesel, and the timing belt blew. Satan told me I'd never get it to run again. Satan said this. I got it runing again. Couple of broken rockers, new timing belt, and it was good as new. I'm surprised when I actually find a good mechanic - I'll have his ear as long as he'll listen. emoji
