#31461, "Just Installed my ARD 57MM TB! Another question tho"

It took the ARD guys a little while but it finally came in the mail. After the install, I felt a huge difference when stepping on the throttle pedal. My car instantly responds ( like all you said it would)...I'm happy as f*ck. emoji

As for the install, everything was easy up until after I removed the last bolt. Just as I was about to take the stock TB off, I find out its attached to a third wire/plug/sensor thing! It was a metal bracket piece that has a Torx screw holding it to the bottom of the TB and wire. It was impossible to take off!! I eventually just pried the connecting piece of metal off of the last wire. Did anybody have the same problem? It didn't seem like the wire neccesarily needed to be attached to the TB- i hope it doesn't. I plugged everything else back together ( all the wires and sensors) and the car runs fine.

I had to break that thing off too. I broke a lot of little "holders" so I could get the wiring harness out of the way.

That sounds great..I'm sending mine in today. Hopefully this will give me back the low end torque. How long did it take for the turnaround? Are you turbo?

Alvin,
naw....not turbo...(yet..heh heh) So every little bit of HP helps my slow car. I talked to Jody at ARD and he always answered the phone whenever I called. Very friendly and all that. He helped me remove the two sensors' Torx bolts off of the stock TB for me cuz' it was impossible to take off

The turn around took about two weeks including Fed EX taking their sweet time shipping it back to me. If you are lucky, Jody said they normally have a bored TB sitting around waiting to be sent out once you send them a stock one. So if you're sending your own ( not an extra one) you might want to call them and have them hold one for you so the transaction would be instant and your car will only be down for a couple of days. There was a 55MM there that was suppose to be mine, but they messed up somewhere and sold it someone else. I had to wait so I just took the next 57mm that came in.

It's $100 for 55mm and $140 for 57mm. I'm just gonna get the 55mm it's like $115 including shipping n stuff. They said they had one lying around waiting to be sent but I told them I am in no rush and they can take like a week and a half to do it.

Danny - I finally have a stock TB coming in the mail to me this week (after months of searching for one!) I plan on sending it out for boring right away. I was going to go with Howell, but I like the 57 idea. Do you have a phone number and mailing address for ARD. TIA

does anyone know the performance differences (hp #'s) between the two sizes??? This would sound like a great deal if the 57 outperforms by a little bit...

here's the website:

http://www.advancedracingdynamics.com/

not much of a site but has contact info and stuff.

as for performance gains, I have no idea, but I'll take any advantage i can get for my slow car. ( I mean, 40 extra bucks ain't shit these days, so I just paid it) Jody at ARD said that I should eventually get my intake mani ported too and the 57mm will be felt more then. Guys on the board also mention that when/or if you decide to turbo, the 57mm will make a diff.
