I went autocrossing for the very first time today and during on of the runs I spun out and hecka burned the tires. Then I opened the hood and there was oil all over the intake, it was like dripping down the blow off valve and all. It was like a teaspoon oil that spurt out of it. Is this good? I've never seen it do this. Oh yeah I have a Weapon R breather filter, it is a piece of shit and I do not recommend it to anyone because the turbo melted it. It looks like a BOV that's the only cool thing about it. The little tube came out also thats why the oil was all over the place. So what exact does that thing do? I heard when your car is new no oil comes out of it. But as your car gets older it starts spitting out oil. This is the first time I've actually seen the oil. Is this normal? I heard people see hella oil come out of their breather b4 their engine blows up, well you can't really see it but afterwards. What it does is take those blow by gasses that manage to get past the piston rings and vents it to the atmospshere (or intake), I take it some oil got through it this time.

Oh yeah I did pretty bad at the autox, but I would say it was ok since it was my first time. It was real fun too, but it tears up your tires hella.

I have never seen any oil come out of my breather. Perhaps the major spin out caused it to spurt out. Not sure how the internals of it work though, and if oil should be coming out like that. Hopefully someone else on here will have more input. Also, maybe its normal on turbo cars, since RRE sells a breather with a built in oil catch can for the gs-t's.

Our engines already have a blow by problem when they are NA. Put it underpressure and it becomes much worse. Run it left and right real hard like you just did and that can definitely make a bigger mess. It is inevitable that you will have blow by. Too muhc can be an issue though. I usually would dump half a quart so now I just fill it half a quart low and no problems. I DO NOT recommend this to other though. I have a catch can too. Either call RRE or make one yourself. Also, do a compression test just to be sure it is not a ring or soemthing like that.

I wouldn't worry about it. NA I get oil coming out of my breathers. At high rpm you create a bit of pressure and it pushed the oil out through the breathers. Once you boost you really create a lot of pressure so even more oil will come out. A catch can is good for keeping things clean and not gettign oil on the engine. I have two K&N breathers and have no problems with them if you are looking to replace your cheap melted one, I suggest buying K&N.

Yep...same thing happened to me...

I took an on ramp at 80mph (almost a complete circle merging onto a highway)....oil was everywhere. I got the RRE catchcan/breather and it performs perfectly. Two valves for air going in and out, a filter on top, and an oil drain valve at the bottom. all for 49 bucks. not a drop of oil coming out my filter now. the catchcan takes 5 minutes to install and is certainly worth the money.
I'll take a pic when I get a chance.

Well I went to Frey Racing today and got me a JAZ Oil Catchcan for 40 bucks. They had a lot of other ones too, like on with an aluminum can (more expensive), same ones as mine but bigger inlets, ones without the filter, etc.... I hope this doesn't melt, I'll make sure and stick it someplace where it won't. Oh yeah that blue anodized barbed fitting I had to buy seperately, it has a threaded inlet and I asked the guy if he had a hose or something. It's made by Holley and its 4 bucks. If you want some racing emoji

Check it out it's pretty nice:

Thats the exact same one I got from RRE for 49 bucks, except mine came with two nozzles where you had to put in that blue one (one for each side), and it has a mounting bracket. Other than that, its the same thing. I put it right between by BOV and my battery. (look in my sig...it wasn't there in the pic, but you can see where I put it anyway emoji
