Well I finally figured it out. I did a compression test today and I got 100-180-180-155. I have oil leaks on both back corners of the engine block. And my car is over heating under boost. It all adds up. I used the stock head studs that were already on the car when i rebuilt the engine. I was cheap and its coming back to haunt me now. I should have got the damn arp head studs. I almost shit my pants when I saw that compresion test. i have noticed a small oil leak on the back side of the engine but I thought it was from the oil filter or something and I was goign to look into it further when i did my next oil change. And the leak has gotten considerably worse. I have leaks at both areas where the compression was low. Looks like i am going to get some ARP studs and get this damn head pulled.

Sometimes I love the damn car and sometimes I hate it!!!!!

So does anybody have a clue as to my overheating problems? I have a star stage 2 at 8psi. and when I'm at highway speeds and I turn on the A/C it overheats. It never boils over but the guage goes up past 3/4 of the way to hot. If I don't have the air on it won't happen unless I'm really pushing it hard for like 1 hour or more. I have replaced the thermostat with the 160 degree, flushed the cooling system, and replaced the rad. cap with the gst's 13psi cap. Where the F should I look next. this is driving me nuts. I know some of you guy's out in the desert are in hotter conditions than I am. What the hell can I do now? coolant temp. sensor, guage what should I do guy's I'm at the end of my rope here. Also the compression is just fine I had a 205 / 205 / 210 / 210 comp test on the stock bottom end. I'm really flipping out here.

P.S. On the way out to the howell open house we were doing some mountain climbing in the cars and it got hot on just about every major hill. It seems to be only under high load like the A/C being on or me really pushing it or climbing hills.

Hey no highjacking my thread!!! emoji emoji

I am going to pay because I have no time to do it. Between school and working fulltime its rough to get spare time these days. Atleast the car drives for now.

Well I have been talking to some people and I have decided to just try and retighten my stock studs and bolts. And if the compression goes back up it looks like it will be fixed for free. But if it doesnt then I am going to replace the headgasket and get the arp studs.

Why can't you just change out the head bolts??? Rather than taking the entire head off???

If the headgasket is blown...well thats a different story -- but -- if the head bolts just aren't holding correctly - why not just get different head bolts???
