#3034, "Sensor failure"

Hi. I just want to clear a few things up with what could be wrong with my car. I read so many things about cars shutting of cuz of this sensor failing and that etc.

When a crank angle sensor fails, or a temp sensor or something, and shuts off the car, that does NOT shut off the computer does it? It just shuts off the sensor and the computer, intentionally shuts off the car, right? Or am I right? Right?

A computer shutting off, and resetting, is a computer problem, not a sensor problem right? A sensor problem should flag a check engine on a fully powered ECU that stays powered right? Not shut it off right?
