well i did a compression test today and here are the numbers from 1 to 4
50 200 200 200
we added oil and #1 went up to 200. then we tried it again after the oil had seeped down and it was 75. so its definitely the ring. does anyone know what all is involved with replacing a ring? does the head have to be pulled off or can they be gotten to from underneath after taking off the pan? and does anyone have an estimate of what a shop may charge to replace the ring? thanks

Got to pull the head.. cant get to it from underneath, although, that would really help a brotha out. So your looking at a lot of $$ for labor unless you want to do it yourself.

sucks you have to sell your car. if you decide to keep it, let me know, and we will get that engine rebuilt for you at a good price. you may need to leave it with us for about a month, but it would bet done. goodluck man.

damn that sux big donkey balls that only one ring blew. I guess I'm lucky all my rings are messed up but not thrashed to the point of destruction. Why don't u just drive it. Just don't boost and go easy on the throttle it'll minize the oil loss and stuff and you'll be able to drive it still. I know it sux to know that you have so much power but you can't use it...

=((( one more bites the dust...
Although you may only get one bad ring, just hope that your cylinder walls are ok...most likely they are not...which will require honing or in the worst case - boring.
I'm going through the same hassle righ tnow (although my engine was already rebuilt but my rings failed anyways) and I ended up having to get a new core block to start of with...
If you need any help, let me know. I think you are by me..
